An idealist from the Midwest, Lynn Sackler nee Lungren came to New York City after graduating Mount Holyoke College
and had to take secretarial courses so she could get a job at a television network
(the path for most women).
After a stint as the only woman director at ABC Radio,
she snagged a coveted, but low-paying job as a Production Assistant on Omnibus.
She was so happy to be on her own in New York City, working in live television that
she was content to be a Production Assistant for years. She left
television and New York to have a life and eventually a family in Europe with
a writer/director. Filmmaker Molly Sackler grew up in a household that orbited
around her father’s work and only recently realized her mother Lynn had been
a working woman for a decade.
